Year 6's Marvellous Poetry Adventure!

Our Year 6 pupils had an exciting start to 2025! They have been busy submitting their impressive narrative poems into a national poetry competition, WonderVerse! Inspired by Isabel Thomas's captivating poem "Moth," our talented Year 6 writers poured their creativity into crafting poems about enchanting creatures, such as fireflies, owls, robins, moths, and butterflies.

The children embraced the opportunity to refine their works before submission. They edited their pieces to ensure they were neat and polished, as well as aesthetically pleasing. The skills they have acquired over the half term truly shone through and their final pieces are a pleasure to read. From similes and metaphors to clever alliteration, the children showcased their mastery of prepositional phrases and adverbial starters. We are so proud of their hard work and creativity! We can’t wait to see how they get on in the competition. Keep your fingers crossed for our budding poets!
